SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Showcases Sports Legends’ Memorabilia

SCP Auctions is gearing up to host an exciting event for sports memorabilia enthusiasts with their upcoming Spring Premier auction. The spotlight of the event will be shining on a one-of-a-kind George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, autographed by the basketball icon himself. This exclusive piece, comprising a jacket and pants signed by Mikan and accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from Sports Investors Authentication, is estimated to command a price tag of over $400,000.

George Mikan’s legacy in basketball has made his memorabilia highly sought after, especially items worn during games. In addition to the remarkable warm-up suit, the auction will also feature a collection of prime vintage baseball cards. These include a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, two 1952 Topps Mantle cards, a 1963 Topps Mantle in SGC 9 condition, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig card graded at SGC 9, with the Gehrig card expected to surpass $150,000 in value.

For collectors of Pete Rose memorabilia, the auction presents an opportunity to acquire the second-ranked master set of his cards, following SCP’s sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. Among the diverse range of items up for bidding are significant cards and memorabilia of Shohei Ohtani, such as the jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023 and Ohtani’s 200th career home run ball.

The auction also boasts an array of other highlights, including two pairs of game-worn Michael Jordan shoes, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. jersey authenticated through photo matching, and a signed Tua Tagovailoa jersey from 2023. In addition, high-end jewelry items like a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals awarded to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring will be up for grabs.

Notable lots in the auction lineup also feature game-worn and signed shoes from Kobe Bryant, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a game-used Ted Williams bat, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a multi-signed baseball by early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee legends, and historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With over 400 lots on offer, the auction is set to open on Wednesday and run through Saturday, April 13. Bidders can participate in the event by visiting SCPAuctions.com and uncovering a treasure trove of iconic sports memorabilia waiting to find new homes.
