MLS Scores Big with 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards

Major League Soccer has officially stepped onto the playing field of Debut Patch cards, following the whirlwind that Major League Baseball’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update stirred. On December 4, the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome release hit the shelves, creating a buzz among collectors who now have a fresh set to hunt. Among the most coveted cards is a redemption for Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card, which has already been plucked from a box.

In a hobby shop in Brooklyn, NY, Andy Wert at E and J Boutique uncovered the gem on December 7—a redemption for Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card. Lloris, famous for leading France to a World Cup victory in 2018 and holding the record for the most appearances for the French national team with 145 caps, commenced his MLS journey this year with Los Angeles FC. This card has instantly become a treasure for fans and collectors, amplifying the thrill surrounding this new series.

Priced at a modest $120, the hobby box promises two chrome autographs, but it was the redemption for Lloris’s card that stole the show as a top-tier pull in the lineup.

The unveiling of the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome collection signifies the league’s inaugural plunge into Debut Patch Cards, spotlighting genuine jersey patches from players’ first MLS matches. The assortment comprises 35 Debut Patch Cards, featuring prominent figures such as Luis Suárez (Inter Miami), Emil Forsberg (New York Red Bulls), and Federico Redondo (Inter Miami). Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card shines as a prized possession in the set, seamlessly blending his illustrious international career with his entry into Major League Soccer.

While the secondary market price for MLB’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update hobby boxes has skyrocketed to $400, the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome product remains a bargain at $120 per box. With sought-after Debut Patch Cards of Suárez, Forsberg, and other big names waiting to be discovered, passionate soccer enthusiasts are eagerly pursuing their own piece of history in this pursuit.

The introduction of Debut Patch Cards signifies MLS’s growing influence in the collectibles realm. By showcasing global stars and commemorating their MLS debuts, the league has tapped into the burgeoning collector community seeking distinctive memorabilia.

Amidst the unfolding of packs, the fervor surrounding 2024 MLS Topps Chrome shows no signs of waning. Hugo Lloris’s revelation has captured attention, leaving fans curious about which of the remaining iconic cards will emerge next.
