Fanatics and Sotheby’s Present “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” Auction

Fanatics and Sotheby’s have once again joined forces to present the highly anticipated “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction, featuring an exclusive selection of rare and historic Upper Deck Exquisite sports cards. Following the remarkable success of their initial collaboration, the “Holy Grails” auction, which garnered over $7 million in sales, this new event promises to be a landmark moment for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The “Holy Grails” auction showcased the growing demand for premium sports cards, with standout sales like the $840,000 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 9 card, the $432,000 2003 LeBron James Exquisite rookie patch autograph, and a Shohei Ohtani card that set a then-record at $336,000. These results solidified the partnership between Fanatics and Sotheby’s as a dominant force in the collectibles market.

The focus of the upcoming “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction will be solely on cards from Upper Deck’s Exquisite line, renowned for its premium materials, innovative designs, and iconic Rookie Patch Autographs (RPAs) that revolutionized the sports card industry. This curated collection will feature 11 ultra-rare cards, including individual LeBron James masterpieces and a unique Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman triple Logoman card commemorating the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty.

These cards are not just viewed as trading cards by collectors and enthusiasts; they are considered exquisite works of art that blend rarity, player significance, and historical value. The legacy of the Exquisite product line, created by Karvin Cheung, has transcended its initial resistance to become the gold standard for premium sports cards. Today, these cards command extraordinary prices, reflecting their cultural and collectible importance.

The “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction is expected to draw global attention from collectors, investors, and fans worldwide due to its unparalleled curation and Sotheby’s esteemed reputation for presenting fine collectibles. Scheduled to go live on December 16th, this event presents a unique opportunity to witness or participate in the sale of some of the most extraordinary sports cards ever produced. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this historic auction.
